Agility/Trick riding
Agility
Agility is what it sounds like, sort of like agility for dogs just for donkeys instead. Here its important to have a attentive ass. The donkey is turned loose in the indoor arena wearing only a halter.
Trickriding
Trickriding refers to the act of performing stunts while riding the donkey at a galop. Handler clothing: Casual clothing that is comfortable and appropriate for the type of task entered. Boots or sturdy, safe shoes. Hats optional. A whip is allowed (mostly for the handler to help show direction etc). If trick riding - helmet is a must.
UPHalter
Halter is a type of 'beautyshow' where donkeys are shown "in hand," meaning that they are led and not ridden. In a showring the donkey are judged on their conformation and their suitability as breeding stock so its important to have a calm (that isnt scared of any sudden and weird noises) and collected animal. The donkey should be shown in a clean, safe and sturdy halter. The donkey: Can't have any other tack on them. The handler: Western or English attire. Boots or sturdy, safe shoes, hats are optional.
UPTherapy
Nothing special really. Just a fantASStic therapy partner - for man or beast!
UPTrail - In hand
In this the donkey is required to work over and through obstacles. During the course the donkey will be evaluated on its responsiveness, willingness and general attitude. The course can include: negotiation of a gate, carrying objects from one part of arena to another, riding through water, over a log, simulated brush riding, down into and out of a ditch without lunging or jumping, crossing a bridge, backing through obstacles, side passing, and performing any reasonable conditions encountered along a trail. The donkey: In-hand trail you may work your donkey in halter, bridle and/or saddle. The handler: Casual clothing that is comfortable and appropriate for the type of class entered. Footwear must be safe and sturdy. Hats optional.
UPPack racing
The donkey: The donkey may be equipped with a Sawbuck, Decker or regular saddle, boxes or panniers with some type of top pack and lash rope. The handler: Casual clothing that is comfortable and appropriate for the type of class entered. Footwear must be safe and sturdy. Hats optional.
