About the breed
The Knabstrupper or Knabstrup is a Danish breed. It is principally a riding horse, but is also used as a harness horse and as a circus animal. It is broadly similar to the Frederiksborger, but often has a spotted coat. In the past, injudicious breeding for this characteristic alone compromised its constitution and conformation
The Knabstrup is bred in four categories, sport, classic, pony and miniature. The sporttype is athletic and is bred for sport like showjumping and dressage, and are sometime crossed with Danish warmbloods and Trakehners. The classic type has a rounder bodyshape, while more upright in posture and lively movements. Its used for barockstyle riding. The ponytype are popular among children. The miniature type is the smallest and can be used as a childrens pony just as the ponytype, but also for trick/shows.
