Shoulder spots

Range

These are spots or small patches that range from the withers down to the shoulder. They can sometimes extend slightly onto the neck and down to the forearm. The spots should not be grouped too tightly together or touch each other. In the areas of fur around the spots there are dark and light hairs (more light than dark) intermingled into the base coat. This gives the effect of a varnish roan patch. As a rule, heterozygous shoulder spots produce larger, more abundant spots, while homozygotes have smaller, scarcer spots.

Other characteristics associated with the homozygotes form (although not mandatory) include a white sclera, striped hooves, and mottled skin around the eyes, muzzle and genetalia. In combination with spotted you can usually only tell the donkey carry this marking by some few stray dark "roany" hairs in the wither area.

What type of edges on this marking

The spots should be somewhat uneven in shape with slightly textured edges.

The group is flexible when it comes to the looks of the markings (since nature doesn't always follow the rules and goes by *strict* lines), so as long as your markings are similar to the examples you shouldn't have any issues. As long as the marking is still visually identifiable everything is good in the hood.
NOTE - if too many people abuse this, rules will become stricter.
