Wapiti

Range

This marking will cover the inner thigh and rump of the donkey (from the croup to above the hock). It can come in a heterozygous (nWi) minimal form that starts under the tail and ends well above the hock (leaving the tailswitch dark). In homozygous form (WiWi) the marking spreads and becomes much wider, covering more of the thigh and reaching partway up the croup or topline of the rump.

heterozygous | homozygous | heterozygous (minimal)

What type of edges on this marking

The marking often has a sharp/crisp edge, can blur slightly towards the inside of the hook

Do-Not's

  • - Wapiti should not be confused with white points because it always has sharp edges at the top, although it can blur slightly as it reaches down to the inside of the hock.
  • - If your donkey has both Points and Wapiti there needs to be a clear difference between the two markings, but you can achieve this using different colors and making sure the edges are well defined.
  • - Wapiti should sit on top of the points.

The group is flexible when it comes to the looks of the markings (since nature doesn't always follow the rules and goes by *strict* lines), so as long as your markings are similar to the examples you shouldn't have any issues. As long as the marking is still visually identifiable everything is good in the hood.
NOTE - if too many people abuse this, rules will become stricter.
